Smart Money Concepts: Market Structure & Liquidity
Understand SMC and ICT terminology without confusing a chart interpretation with a guaranteed outcome.

Market structure describes the sequence of swing highs and lows and the context around them. Before learning named setups, practise explaining whether price is trending, ranging or changing behaviour. Different timeframes can suggest different contexts; specify which chart you are analysing.
What liquidity means in chart analysis
Traders often use liquidity to describe areas where orders may cluster, such as around previous highs and lows. A price chart cannot reveal every participant’s intention or every order. A liquidity sweep is an interpretation of price behaviour, not proof that an institution has entered a trade.
Understand the terms before using a setup
Smart Money Concepts (SMC) and ICT approaches include terminology such as order blocks, fair value gaps and changes in market structure. Define the rules you use, record examples that fail as well as those that work, and avoid changing your interpretation after seeing the outcome. No named method eliminates risk.
Connect analysis to execution
An analysis only becomes a plan when you specify the conditions for entering, what invalidates the idea and how you limit exposure. Asaan’s syllabus introduces SMC, ICT concepts, liquidity and advanced analysis alongside risk control. Ask the teaching team how your chosen program covers order flow, footprint analysis and volume profile; these are distinct analytical tools, not interchangeable labels.
